Too Much or Not Enough?

FAIR WARNING... this post is about Bladder Control

Read at your own discretion :o)

We all know that I teach 2nd grade.  Ok, my schedule goes like this...

7:45 pick up kiddos from Computer Lab
7:45 - 8:00 Breakfast
8:00 - 8:45 Intervention
9:45 - 10:15 Rotation 1 (we switch classes and I teach math)
1015- 11:45 - Rotation 2
11:45 - 12:15 Lunch (More like 12 - 12:15 lunch)
12:15 - 1:00 PE
1:00 - 1:30 Specials (art, music, computers, library
1:30 - 3:00 Rotation 3

Ok, now that we got all that down... I have a long stretch from 7:45 - 11:45 to go to the bathroom.  I have been trying to drink
Smart Water is my favorite
a liter in the morning, one from lunch until 3:00, and one more from when I get off from school until I go to sleep (or about an hour before bed)... so about 3 liters a day!
This is my goal from now until my wedding...
REASONS:
1.  Regulates Body Temperature
2.  I sweat a lot when I workout
3. Detoxifies
4.  Helps with Metabolism
5.  Muscles consist of 75% of water
6.  THE BIGGY... My SKIN!
I have noticed since the last couple of weeks that I have been doing this, my skin is starting to clear up... YEA!

My only thing is I feel like I have "Gotta Go, Gotta Go, Gotta Go Right Now" stamped to my head!  Literally, I have to go like every 30 minutes!

I found this neat picture on Google Images of Benefits of Water

In my last 2 half marathons I have had to go to the bathroom.  I never had the problem in my first one.  Does that mean I probably did not hydrate enough or am I hydrating too much?  I have also had kidney stones... so water plays a huge role!

What are your thoughts?

How much water do you drink?

Do you drink other sport drinks... like Powerade Zero, Gatorade etc?

  1. You know I'm a sucker for PowerAde Zero! Since I haven't been running, I havent been drinking much water. Maybe I had better work on that.

  2. i have a hard time hydrating during work days. im a home health nurse and spend a lot of time in my car driving between patients. i HATE having to stop and pee between every stop and peeing in pts home's is NOT an option. so i usually dont drink at all when working, so im always in a fluid deficit. i dont like to drink about an hour before a run either or i will either a) have to stop and pee or b) pee a little on myself. i will start to drink once im running, that doesnt seem to make me need to pee. i drink gu brew or nuun tabs when working out, plain water at other times

  3. I am in the same boat. At home, I'm drinking water constantly...and peeing hourly. No kidding. It;s ridiculous. However...I drink about 200 oz. of water a day. I know it's a lot, but I just love it.
When I'm working out I started using nuun so I can drink a little less but still feel hydrated (all the electrolytes) and therefore don't need to find port-o-pottys all the time!

  4. I definitely need to drink more water. I'm pretty good at holding it though. hahaha

  6. Hi new reader here... found you through someone else's blog. *waves* I'm a teacher too and have also been trying to drink more water, which is quite the dangerous combination. They need to make bathroom breaks for teachers! That said, with my new water intake (I aim for 7 glasses before dismissal) I tend to go every 30 minutes too. Totally embarassing.
